Nautical Complex Galați

The Nautical Complex plays a crucial role in upholding the quality, security, and safety standards for shipboard activities undertaken by graduates of CERONAV's training programs.

Equipped with modern facilities, this complex supports the development of practical skills needed to meet the legal requirements established through EU directives and international standards set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) through the STCW Convention on seafarer training and certification. Its infrastructure is specifically designed to fully comply with these international standards.

The nautical complex includes firefighting training facilities, a medical first aid laboratory, seafaring and mechanical laboratories, measurement equipment, a mooring pontoon, and lifeboats, ensuring comprehensive training for personnel serving on board river ships.

The Nautical Complex also includes the Information and Training Centre - InfoDanube, which was set up in 2011 as part of the project NELI – Cooperation network for logistics and nautical education focusing on Inland Waterway Transport in the Danube corridor supported by innovative solutions by renovating and modernizing the old school pontoon. InfoDanube serves multiple purposes: raising public awareness about the importance of inland waterway transport, providing relevant information about the IWT sector, encouraging young people to pursue careers in this field, offering alternative training opportunities as well as free access to information on logistics services along the Danube to potential clients, thus supporting the shift towards more sustainable modes of transport. In 2018, InfoDanube was further upgraded and equipped to serve as an Environmental Information Centre, as part of the GREEN DANUBE project – Integrated Transnational Policies and Practical Solutions for an Environmentally-Friendly Inland Waterway Transport System in the Danube Region. Today, the InfoDanube hosts a variety of events on board the pontoon, all aimed at promoting the inland navigation sector and fostering environmental protection.
