Remotely Operated Vehicles training course

CERONAV has recently introduced in its portfolio the new ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicles) training course. The course is intended for professionals who possess piloting skills and want to work in the ROV Industry. Being equipped with 5 ROVs, CERONAV can offer trainees the possibility to operate a variety of vehicles and gain an understanding of underwater challenges.

REMOTELY OPERATED VEHICLES (ROV)

In order for the participant to be accepted into this course they should meet the following criteria(as per IMCA R002):

“Trainees should meet one or more of the following requirements:

1) A nationally-recognized technical or trade qualification (military service qualification and/or an appropriate level national vocational qualification is acceptable) completed in one or more of the following subjects:

a)electrical

b)electronic

c)hydraulics

d)mechanics.

and a minimum of three years’ technically relevant industrial experience (including any accepted training period) in an appropriate discipline relating to the above subjects, which should have been obtained within the previous four years.

2) A nationally-recognized, higher (tertiary) academic qualification (not otherwise covered above) in a relevant technical subject; plus a minimum of one year of technically relevant industrial experience, which can be secured as a feature of the entry into the ROV industry, i.e. a university graduate may go directly to a suitable establishment to secure the minimum of one year of relevant industrial experience, which may be with the employer.

3) In certain circumstances, candidates who do not meet the criteria above but have extensive industrial experience, or an appropriate technical qualification or industrial training course supported by evidence and references, may be acceptable.”

Participation requirements:

  • Adherence to the course schedule
  • Possession of an identity card
  • Completion of the self-assessment medical form upon enrolment
  • Active participation in the course and adherence to trainer’s instructions
  • Physical ability to attend the course (well-rested and free from signs of exhaustion, use of psychoactive substances or alcohol, or acute illnesses).

The participation fee includes an individual insurance regarding the use of ROV.

All training courses are conducted in a safe environment and in the presence of at least one person qualified to provide first aid support.

Description

The 10-day course is designed to provide an introduction in the HSQE principles, the ROV industry and its specific operations. It also offers hands-on practical training in observation-class ROV under the supervision and guidance of a certified instructor.

The self-assessment medical form, the enrolment form, the enrolment form, the access code, and the password to access the ILIAS online learning platform will all be sent to the trainee via email upon enrolment.

The five-day theoretical module is delivered via the ILIAS platform. Upon the completion of the module, the trainees will take an online time-limited test to demonstrate acquired knowledge.

Over the last five days of the course, the trainees will be engaged in a practical training using the five types of ROV. The final exam consists of piloting a ROV in a lake, pool and open sea.
