During the month of September, the Romanian Maritime Training Centre – CERONAV carried out “work shadowing” activities for participants from Poland and Spain.
In recent weeks, CERONAV had the honour of receiving participants from the Maritime Office in Szczecin, Poland and the Jovellanos Maritime Safety Centre, Spain, within the framework of “work shadowing” programs of the EFCGA Net project implemented by EFCA – European Fisheries Control Agency, EMSA – European Maritime Safety Agency and FRONTEX – European Border and Coast Guard Agency. The activities carried out offered the participants a valuable opportunity to familiarize themselves with procedures, concepts and good practices essential for the protection of the marine environment and maritime safety.
The first program focused on the prevention of marine pollution and consisted of several complementary modules. The part of the exercise on prevention and response to accidental oil pollution was organized in Mangalia in collaboration with ARSVOM – the Romanian Agency for Human Life Rescue at Sea and included a sea voyage with the ship Maia.
The participants had the opportunity to apply advanced intervention techniques and collaborate in the management of simulated pollution scenarios.
As part of the second maritime safety program, ARSVOM organized a relevant exercise that involved a complex sea rescue simulation, also representing a demonstration of emergency intervention capabilities.
The activities organized at CERONAV both in the training campus and in the simulation centre lasted two days and involved the direct participation of maritime specialists in the theoretical and practical conduct of the courses.
The guests from the two European countries were also able to visit the full mission bridge simulator, the engine room simulator alongside the DP, GMDSS, OPITO and GWO simulators. Through these activities, participants developed their skills in risk management, and international cooperation was strengthened in order to protect the marine environment and increase maritime safety.
CERONAV thanks all those involved for the professionalism they demonstrated and reaffirms its commitment to remain a benchmark of excellence in the maritime field and to continue to promote good practices and cooperation with other relevant organizations at European level.
